DEPUTY SECRETARY TO THE CABINET FOR FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TOURS THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF THE 600-MEGAWATT THERMAL POWER PLANT BY EVER GREAT ENERGY COMPANY LIMITED

Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Finance and Economic Development (FED), Mr. Siazongo Siakalenge, today, toured the construction site of the 600-megawatt coal-fired power plant being developed by Ever Great Energy Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Wonderful Group of Companies, in Sinazongwe District of Southern Province.

In line with Zambia’s efforts to diversify its energy mix, Ever Great Energy Company Limited is constructing the 600-megawatt coal-fired power plant, with phase one expected to add 150 megawatts to the national grid by July 2026, and an additional 150 megawatts by October 2026. The EPC contractor for this project is ZIQUAN GROUP (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD.

Phase one of the project, valued at USD 451 million, is expected to create approximately 1,800 job opportunities. The project aims to increase Zambia’s power generation capacity and support the country’s economic growth and development.
